Rio Goto was born in Tokyo in 2012.
At age eight, she won 1st Prize in the Junior Division of the 32nd Japan International Harp Competition, becoming the youngest winner in the competition’s history. She also received 1st Prize at the 30th Japan Classical Music Competition.
She performed at the 14th World Harp Congress Focus on Youth in Wales, and was selected as a soloist for Mozart’s Flute and Harp Concerto at the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra’s 2022 Sylvester Concert, conducted by Kazuyoshi Akiyama.
Rio won 1st Prize at the 8th Hong Kong International Harp Competition and the 10th VDH Competition, organized by the German Harp Society. She also received 1st Prize in both regional and national chamber music categories at Austria’s competition Prima la Musica.
She was a soloist in the 2024 Christmas Concert with members of the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg and the Junior Orchestra, conducted by Roberto González-Monjas. In 2025, she performed at the 13th USAIHC Stars of Tomorrow Concert.
