Teatro do Mar was founded in Sines, Portugal, on March 8th 1986, by Julieta Aurora Santos (its Artistic Director and Director) and the late Actor and Director Vladimir Franklin. In a constant reflection and exploration of new artistic territories, the Company develops a work of research and creation particularly oriented to the public space (street theatre). Investing in its own dramaturgical creation - either from thematic and/or adaptation of literary works - and in a multidisciplinary work, it crosses an essentially physical theatre with the circus, dance, animated forms, original music and the new video technologies, in the search for a common and global meaning and the affirmation of a language with a universal character, able to be understood by any kind of audience.
Teatro do Mar has performed in Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, Holland, Denmark and Brazil.
