Want to get your RV questions answered?

It's back to school season. The yellow busses are driving about. My sister is a teacher so I'm hearing all about how her year is starting out.

Honestly it all made me feel nostalgic for when I got to throw on my backpack filled with my new sharpened pencils and crisp empty notebooks on the first day of school.

So I thought I'd do a quick sale on RV Academy for anyone wanting those back to school vibes while learning about your RV.

Don't want to do any crazy sales tactics or take up your time so here's the deal:

🚐 RV Academy is usually $375 - > For this weekend its going to be $297 (Use coupon code BACKPACK)

🚐 If you don't know RV Academy teaches you how to diagnose the Fridge, Water Heater, AC, and Furnace in your RV like a pro so you never need to call a tech again

🚐 For anyone who signs up this weekend I'll do a live Q/A on October 7th at 5pm PDT

🚐 That gives you a week to dive in and watch as much you want and get your questions ready

🚐 Don't worry you get a year to watch RV Academy as many times as you want - I just wanted to give people time before the Q/A

That's all. If you're interested you can learn more about RV Academy here:

www.rvrepairwoman.com/rvacademy?cid=325d97f5-5055-…

Sale ends at midnight on Monday. Hope to see you at the Q/A

How To Change Your RV Battery

🔋Here’s how to avoid the service fee and just do this project yourself

🔋It’s really simple

Step 1: Throw your battery disconnect

🔋This makes sure that there isn’t power going to the battery before you disconnect it

🔋If you don’t know where your battery disconnect is then just unplug the RV from shore power

Step 2: Take a Picture of Your Battery

🔋Before you disconnect any wires take a picture - it’ll last longer

🔋This way you know how to rewire your battery later

Step 3: Remove Battery

🔋Disconnect all the wires from your battery

🔋It’s good practice to disconnect the negative wire first for extra safety

🔋Then remove the offending battery from the RV

Step 4: Bring to Auto Store

🔋Then bring the battery to your local Auto Zone or Orielly’s

🔋Slap it on the table and say “I would like to replace this battery please” and they will look it up on their computer and find you something appropriate

🔋If you have a fancy battery like an AGM or Lithium you may need to go to a battery specialty store - but lead acids you can get at AutoZone no problem

Bonus: Give them Your Number

🔋Give them your phone number when they ask

🔋They will connect the warranty for the battery to your phone number

🔋If you manage to kill the battery while its under warranty you can get a brand spanking new one for free if they can look up your purchase through your number

Step 5: Install the New Battery

🔋Install the new battery according to the picture you took earlier

🔋Yeah its that simple - this is all techs are doing when they go to the store to get you a new battery

🔋You can do this yourself

The countdown is ON, guys!

I'm running my first online course!

RVRW's RV Academy's doors are open for just THIS week.

RV Academy is going to be a 4 week LIVE course lead by me (your friendly neighborhood RV repair tech) that will walk you through STEP-BY-STEP how to diagnose the four main appliances in your RV.

(Water Heater, Furnace, Fridge, and Air Conditioner)

Each week I'll be running a live video class that will walk you through all the tips and tricks that most RV techs don't want you to know about fixing your RV all by yourself.

Here are the details about RV Academy in case you're interested in joining:

🚐Doors are open this week only and will close on July 7th.

🚐Inside RV Academy each week we will focus on 1 appliance and walk you through the two most common brands on a live video lesson with me. You'll be able to ask questions via chat and get them answered in real time.

🚐If you can't make the live calls, don't worry, you'll have 6 month access to the replays so you can watch over and over to your hearts content. And there is a private community just for people taking the course where you can ask all your questions and get them answered by me or by fellow students learning along side you.

PHEW, you might need to read that a few times because I know I just threw a lot of information at you! You can view the FULL breakdown of what's inside RV Academy and if its a good fit for you here:

www.rvrepairwoman.com/rvacademy

One of the core values I have at RV Repair Woman is transparency, so I wanted to let you in on allll the details so you can make an informed decision on if this will be the right fit for you.

And if you have any specific questions, let me know in the comments.

And if you’re interested in a spot on the group Q&A call, make sure to sign up THIS week!

Did you catch "How to Save $5000 in Your RV"?

I went over how a $7 multimeter from Harbor Freight can save you $1000's in your RV and we're just getting started.

We covered the DC voltage test - my #1 most used test on my multimeter.

And then went over how to use that test to fix 3 of the most common calls I get as an RV tech.

1. Dead Batteries
Think your batteries are dead? Set your meter to DC volts. Unplug your RV from shore power and place your black probe on the negative terminal of the battery and your red probe on the positive terminal of the battery.

If you have lead acid batteries and they're fully charged, you should be seeing a reading in the realm of 12.5 Volts.

Anything under 12 volts is technically considered a dead battery.

2. Dead Converter
Your converter charges your batteries while you're plugged in. So if you don't have DC power while plugged in, your converter might be dead.

You can test at the batteries or at the converter.

When plugged in you should see 13.5 V.

Anything under 13 and your converter is acting up.

3. Bad Thermostat
A lot of people assume when their AC stops working that they need to replace the whole unit, when a lot of the time it's just a bad thermostat.

Check for power in to the thermostat and then power out of the thermostat.

If power goes in but doesn't come out your thermostat is bad.

And keep an eye out for tomorrow's video where we'll cover the AC voltage test.

Ready for your focus for the month?

In June, we're kicking off the month with my FREE $5000 in 5 days challenge (aka the 10 most common calls I get as a RV tech and how to solve them yourself).

www.rvrepairwoman.com/5000

That’s because I want to really pull your focus in toward RV electrical this month.

(and not just because I that's the favorite part of my job!)

But because you have your RV, your life, and your family, that don't want to have to wait around for when a tech is ready to see you. You want to live your life on your calendar.

Not when a RV shop is ready for you.

Not when a tech that you don't know anything about finally decides to show up.

And definitely not after spending hours looking for the one YouTube video with the answer to why your fridge has been screaming for the last three hours.

(oh, the horror stories I’ve heard way too many times.)
When you can solve anything that your RV can throw at you, you feel powerful in way that most RVers never get to feel.
I left RV school feeling on top of the world, because I knew I could if I could figure out the electrical side of things, I could figure out ANYTHING.

And I want to at least try to transfer a part of that feeling on to YOU this month.

Here’s the part I love sharing: I run into customers all the time who feel afraid of their RV. Its has had so many things go wrong that they are sitting there waiting for their AC to stop humming or their fridge to make that god forsaken beeping noise again.

And a small secret? Those are my favorite customers. Because whenever I sense that fear when I'm talking to them I always make an effort to show them what I'm doing while I'm there.

Whether it's something as small as checking a fuse or as esoteric as the PIN 15 reset on Norcold fridges, you can watch someones eyes light up when they feel they have some control over their rig again.

I want you to have that kind of stability. That kind of peace.

Ready for a month of RV electrical focused learning?
Buckle up, we’re going there!
