Palestinian-American lawyer (Lara E.) and Jewish-American comedian (Mikey B.) break down the latest Palestine-related news with weekly analysis of top stories, expert guest interviews, and light-hearted commentary covering a very dark situation.
Lara joined @aljazeeraenglish on a panel to discuss the role of OSINT and digital evidence in helping establish the facts in Gaza amidst Israel’s denial of entry into Gaza of fact finding investigators and foreign correspondents (save for those who agree to embed with the Israeli occupation forces) and to what extent such evidence can be used in legal proceedings, notably the ICJ and the ICC.
Lara pointed out that what was unique in this case was the troves of self-incriminating videos published gleefully by the perpetrators online such as the videos of Israeli soldiers blowing up entire neighborhoods, firing grenade launchers on houses and smiling, and showing their abuse of Palestinian hostages. She also mentioned how South Africa, in building its case for genocidal intent, relied in its petition before the ICJ on over 60 statements of Israeli leaders, the overwhelming majority of which were published to social media.
The struggle for freedom and justice is long but we are still here.
Stay focused. Keep amplifying Palestinian voices. Every day we don’t stop this, Israel is killing on average 250 Palestinians which is the highest daily killing toll in conflicts in the last 100 years surpassing 96.5 people per day in Syria, 51.5 in Sudan, 50.8 in Iraq, 43.9 in Ukraine and 23.8 in Afghanistan (Oxfam).
Please also don’t forget the Palestinian children killed in an Israeli airstrike in Rafah this morning while the oral arguments took place. 112 Palestinians were killed in the last 24 hours alone (Al Jazeera).
Watch this powerful collab with @DoubleDownNews! Lara describes why, according to the Genocide Convention, Israel's actions in Gaza constitute Genocide.

Pay close attention to the lyrics. This video clip is from last year but it speaks to the present moment with a promise for the future.
This video clip was the fruit of the efforts of many of Gaza’s beloveds like @rahafmarwan20, @hamada.pr1, @saidsol1, and @wizardbisan.
Many of the places in this video, which was filmed in Gaza City, have been destroyed by the occupation in the last 2.5 months and some of the people have been killed like Elham Farah, Gaza’s first music teacher, who appears at 1:30 (she was killed by an Israeli sniper on November 12 steps outside her home).
There are no words to describe what Gaza has been through in the last 75 years and 86 days but Gaza will overcome and rebuild and smile again.
Thank you @SOLBANDgaza for showing the world who we, the Palestinian people, are. This video is dedicated to all of Gaza. May the future be one of redemption for your pain and full of freedom.
The recent wave of destruction has left Sol Band grappling with profound challenges, including the loss of their homes, studio, and loved ones. Every single provision we have excerpted has been violated by Israel on numerous occasions and Israel has never been held accountable for these (or any other) violations of international law as the US has consistently blocked any means of accountability leading to the impunity crisis that has paved the way for this genocide.
For the last 2.5 months, we have seen these violations be ignored, denied, or justified because the perpetrator is an ally of the US. If that weren’t the case then you would have hysteria in this moment to stop this - literally everyone knows that.
Palestine has revealed that the world is very much still a colonial one, where the law does not apply equally to all offenders but where some offenders are treated with privilege and exception and mass atrocities can still happen, very easily actually, at a faster rate than ever before with more destructive weapons than ever before.
The world would be a very different place if the words in legal textbooks were followed by everyone, but alas that’s not why they were written down in the first place.
Since this video was published last week we saw : - Dozens of displaced Gazans into tents being bulldozed and buried alive at Kamal Adwan Hospital. - IOF sniper killed Nahida & Samar, a mother and daughter in Catholic Church the Holy Family Parish. - A toddler was burned to his muscles on more than 50% of his body. - More journalists being targeted, beaten, wounded & killed. - IOF killed 3 Israeli hostages, shirtless holding white flags and asking for help in Hebrew. - 15 Palestinians were executed at point blank range in a Jabalia school massacre - IOF published a video of them burning aid supplies
Israel has been taking our children hostages ever since it established itself as a state on top of us. Most of you didn't know that it has thousands of Palestinian hostages like Marah. She was kidnapped by Israel when she was 16. No due process. Sentenced by a military court with a near 100% conviction rate if she was even sentenced at all. The fact that a state kidnapped her is no different because a state can set up processes to appear legitimate (like military courts) but understand that state violence is not prettier, not more legitimate because it comes from a state. I'm happy Israeli hostages are going home and because the western world disproportionately cares about Israeli lives and followed the hostage exchange, it allowed them to realize that Israel already was holding thousands of Palestinians hostage including women and children for years. Maybe that will awaken the world to our oppression.

Hi guys ! thanks to our new followers allowing us to reach +1000 subscribers, we are on "Community" now!
We started this podcast three months ago on a mission as a Palestinian refugee in exile and an anti-Zionist Jewish-American to do our part to support the decolonization of Palestine and full liberation of Palestinians on the ground and in exile. We never could have expected the love and support that y’all have shown us and the feeling is mutual. We are going to keep doing our part to amplify and uplift the voices of the freedom fighters on the ground and support the liberation of Palestinians and all oppressed and colonized peoples worldwide. Education is power. Each one teach one is how we prevail especially when the discourse has been dominated by the colonizer’s narrative for 73 years. @thepalestinepod is certainly not the first and definitely won’t be the last platform to contribute to the growing shift in global consciousness in the discussion on Palestine but we will do everything in our power to harness the potential of this moment. Palestinians have been expelled, dispossessed, uprooted, exiled, and murdered for 73 years by an apartheid regime that stole our land and keeps stealing our land. This is plain wrong so we know our cause is just. Our struggle is an anti-colonial, anti-racist struggle to live with rights on our land and participate in the governance that makes decisions impacting our lives. On the other hand, the settler colony’s cause is fundamentally unjust. There is no right to run a Jewish supremacist state (& certainly not on land where the majority of the natives pre expulsion were not Jewish). There is no right to “defend” yourself from the people you have expelled, oppressed and caged for 73 years. Rather, oppressed and colonized people under occupation have the right to resist the hostile takeover of their land by a military state, a nuclear power, and a recognized apartheid government.
Long live the resistance. Long live this liberation movement. Long live the Palestinian people, an example of dignity and humanity for the world despite generations of US-funded Zionist colonization and its brutal systems and structures of colonial violence. See you soon in a free Palestine.
