In this photo, you see an Audi 80 B1 (Type 80) of the type built between 1972 and 1974. This is the first generation of the Audi 80, specifically the initial series (pre-facelift).

Development of the Audi 80—intended as the successor to the DKW Auto-Union F102 / Audi F103—began as early as 1968, back when DKW Auto-Union was still part of Daimler-Benz (Mercedes). In 1969, Volkswagen acquired both DKW Auto-Union and NSU, merging them into Audi NSU Auto-Union GmbH. Ultimately, it was this very team at Audi NSU Auto-Union that saved Volkswagen in the 1970s, at a time when VW was still intent on relying on the long-outdated air-cooled flat-four engine.

The first Audi 80 also served as the blueprint for the first-generation Volkswagen Passat, which launched just under a year later. The VW Passat B1 is essentially the same vehicle, though offered as a hatchback and an estate (wagon). Incidentally, the Audi 80 B1 also made it to the US, where it was marketed as the Audi Fox. It is also interesting to note that there was an Audi Fox Estate—also built by Audi in Ingolstadt—unlike the VW Passat Variant, which, like the hatchback, was produced at the Emden plant.

Good Day mates!

I have just noticed that episode 4 of my video series about the classic car show in Heubach is very much underperforming (only 30 views compared to the 100 views of episode 1 & 2 and 150 views of episode 3). Therefore I just want to take the opportunity to inform you about this third episode. My personal highlights as displayed in the thumbnail are the following three cars:

Top left corner:
NSU WANKEL-SPIDER (1964-1967)
Visually it is looking like the convertible version of the NSU Sport Prinz that was built by NSU since 1959. But there is one huge difference hiding in the rear end - the engine! While the Sport Prinz had an 2 cylinder engine of the NSU Prinz II similar of a motorbike; the engine of the NSU Wankel-Spider was very different. Felix Wankel invented the rotary engine and the NSU Wankel-Spider was the first series production of a car with a rotary engine. By the way, did you know that the term "spider" is often used for convertibles by different brands?

Top right corner:
VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT B5 TYPE 3B (1996-2000)
On October 11, 1996 VW was officially selling the 5th generation of the Passat. By the way, the B5 means B-platform 5th generation. The B5 is also an example to remind that time is running fast. So it is already 29 years and almost 11 months ago when this car was introduced to the German buyers. By the way, the wagon ("Variant") was introduced a bit later in 1997. The B5 was the first VW car using a CAN-bus system - which unfortunately is also often a problem for these cars. The car got a facelift for the 2000-2005 model and was then called the Type GP. But this police car shown in front of the police museum of Heubach was the old type 3B. The police museum's guys did also tell me that although it is still wearing the old official police license plate it is part of the museum and they are not allowed to use the blue strobe light in the traffic - they have to cover the strobe lights by law. The police car is in the old German police livery white-green which was used in this federal state of Baden-Württemberg from 1975 to 2001. In 2002 the police changed from white to silver cars with the green doors & lids. Since 2007 the green parts became blue on new police vehicles.

Lower left corner:
VOLKSWAGEN SANTANA B2 SERIES 2 (1985-1988)
The VW Santana B2 was the notchback variation of the VW Passat B2. The name Santana was only used in Germany for the model years 1981 to 1984. The first series had a different headlamp unit which was not the same as for the Passat B2 series 1. VW tried to sell the car as a more luxury Passat and therefore given a different name - the Santana was also having higher trim levels than the Passat. But well, the Audi 80 B2 (like my car) which was built on the same chassis but different body was still selling better than the Santana. So for the facelift of the Passat B2 in 1985 they decided to also use the Passat badge instead of the Santana badge and also offering the car in the Passat basic trim. By the way, the car here is wearing the Santana instead of the Passat badge although this is clearly the facelift with the Passat B2 Series 2 headlamps. Little fun fact: In Spain the car didn't drop the Santana name badge in 1985 - so this car must have been re-imported to Germany. Did you know that this Santana was even built in China until 2012? So this car was actually built for 31 years!

If you aren't already asleep after reading it so let me also tell you that the episode 3 was filmed at my favorite area of the show around the parking lot for the Palace of Heubach. You can also find the following interesting cars:

Also there was a lovely green Ford 20m RS Hardtop Coupe (Ford P7b) - Ford of Germany did drop the Taunus name for it but still a lot of people will call it a Ford Taunus P7. It is by the way the German predecessor of the Ford Granada Mk1 (in UK the predecessor has been the Ford Zephyr which was a completely different car). The Ford P7 did also make it to South Africa as right hand drive.

Also you will get to see a Peugeot 205 Rallye.

And one of my personal favorites (that like the Ford P7b also made it into the intro) is the Audi 80 B1 Series 1 (Type 80).

Hello wonderful people in the internet village! I am yet again back with a foto of an interesting vehicle that I have seen the very first time on the last show that I visited recently. This here is a Bührer Industrie-Traktor B D 3 I - with Google Lense I could even get some further information about it. The first owner in 1946 was the company Konsumverein Zürich ZH in Switzerland. The chassis is number 1940. It had a whopping cylinder Diesel engine with 2,940 cc and 40 horse powers. Bührer is a Swiss tractor manufacturer that still exists - estimated in 1929! What I totally love about the tractor is the full body that makes it become a cool car. You will get to see it in the video from the Oldtimertreffen in Wildberg/Wächtersberg - perhabs end of this year or beginning of next year. I am sorry that it will take some time - but still lots of content that I filmed before.

I hope you find such postings also interesting. I am thinking about to use it more often to show something interesting I found on a show. What do you think about this idea?

Hey folks! On Sunday I have been to a classic car show (as usual, lol). And in the first time of my life I have seen an Oshkosh truck in the flesh and it has been even such a huge one (that's what she said, lol). It is an Oshkosh M1070 8x8 HETS - formerly used by the US Army and later imported from the US to Germany by a company in this region that has specialized about the import of ex-military vehicles. It is for sure the biggest truck I've ever seen. Even the heavy short-bonnet Mercedes truck (which already was the highest short-bonnet variation back then) is looking small.

Unfortunately you won't get to see it too soon in my videos. With my current upload schedule I am already finished until the last week of Octobre and I already filmed three other shows that will come online before this one which will be the Oldtimertreffen in Wildberg (Flugplatz Wächtersberg). So stay tuned ... still loads to come! And perhabs even more shows that I can film in this year - the Super El Niño is providing again nice weather for me (of course way too dry for mother nature over here - but of course perfect to visit such shows).

Anyways, I am also visiting some automobile museums during my summer holidays. So also the winter break will be saved with new content (not to mention that I also have still some cool new diecast model cars that I could show).

I also want to mention that it seems like YouTube's change on the view count does give some motivation back to me. I am seeing that the recent videos from the Heubach show (www.youtube.com/playlist?list...) is having better views than when I remember about the last videos from before the change. Search also seems to have been fixed by YouTube. So maybe the website turns out to be better again - like it has been a couple of years ago. As a side note I have to mention that the average watch time didn't drop with the new count (but I guess this will affect more the Short videos).

PS: I also have to mention that I believed the Oshkosh truck is something African (as I remember that brand from an old German tv series "Auf Achse" when they were in Africa). It is an American brand but also producing in different countries. For sure quirky looking trucks seem to have been often a case for Oshkosh - pretty cool trucks anyways!

You probably heard about the changes of the YouTube Partner Program which literelly doubled the metrics to join. I don't care because my channel is a purely private project. But I do understand the madness about it (although I am pretty sure the old metrics to start were only pocket money and putting goods on shelves in a local supermarket as a mini job is for sure way more lucrative ... but well, then you've to work instead to let your videos doing the job, haha). Anyways, YouTube is also changing something about the view counts. So from August 24, 2026 the views will count different again as described at support.google.com/youtube/thread/433409976?linkId…

In short words it means that the views on Shorts will get crazy high (like it did on the beginning) because then every view will count, even if it is only a second to swipe down the video. The engaged views like it was used for a while now (when we all noticed the drop on views on all of our videos - because the view was only count as a view if the video or short was watched for a certain amount).

Now the bad news about it ... it means that your view counts for the YouTube Partner Program will still being measured by the engaged views and engaged watch time for long form content. So although on the first look it may look like your videos will perform better again, but towards the YouTube Partner Program it won't.

I still don't know if I like the change. This will of course also mean that the performance of the average watch time of the videos will also drop down a lot. But I am also feeling the frustration of the low view numbers. My last three videos hit only around 20-30 views after 48 hours which is pretty much frustrating. I still don't know whether these cool cars from the Paul Pietsch Rallye aren't interesting for the people, or if they are just all getting bored about my videos. Or perhabs everyone just started to go on vacation since middle of last week ... What do you think about this change? Let me know in the comments.

Yesterday I just received my YouTube month July 2026 as an review. I was pretty shocked seeing the statistics about the total views and total watch time. Of course the short videos did drive down the watching time of every view to an average of only 1 minute per view. Anyway, it is fantastic that my videos reached more than 14,000 views in that single month. And I am glad I received 32 more subscribers. Yet I don't know who they are as mostlikely the same people are commenting on my videos. So if you are one of them you can feel free to comment. Thanks a lot for your support!

On last Sunday he was also at the Oldtimer Festival in Gechingen and he filmed me at the arrival. It was very nice to meet him in person.

At this point I also want to inform you that I am in the moment a bit struggling about my spare time. Due to a summer flu (while working), and some renovation in the apartment plus editing & uploading the videos from the long 4 days Corpus Christi Weekend I am still pretty busy and much behind watching your videos. Hello my friends! I hope you all had so far an amazing pentecost! I was today on a classic car show in Kirchheim/Teck and met one of the scrapyard brothers that became popular on German TV a couple of years ago. Here you can see me with the legendary ‪@PeterLudolf-derechte‬ - Peter is such an amazing nice person. I am very glad that I met him today although it was only for a short time.

He is a legend about cooking noodles - that's why his sweater is saying "Man kann Nudeln machen warm, man kann Nudeln machen kalt" (You can eat noodles warm, you can eat noodles cold). Well, I’ve just spent a few hours changing thumbnails for some Shorts. For reasons completely inexplicable to me, YouTube has restricted this capability exclusively to the YouTube app on modern smartphones. My old smartphone couldn't handle the app update—and even using Android emulators like BlueStacks and NoxPlayer, I still couldn't change any thumbnails. And on a PC, there is simply no option available in the browser—even though, technically speaking, this shouldn't be a problem at all. A huge thank you to YouTube; I now have pain in my left arm from holding up my phone, and a stiff neck from constantly craning down to look at the screen... A truly fantastic solution, YouTube—NOT!



What do you guys think about this feature? Do you not create Shorts? Does it not bother you? Or do you simply use smartphones for all your videos anyway?
