Israeli forces violently beat a young Palestinian after detaining him in Al-Khader, south of Bethlehem, and set up a military checkpoint at the town’s eastern entrance, stopping vehicles and checking IDs, causing heavy traffic congestion.
“If Hamas keeps killing people in Gaza… we will have no choice but to go in and kill them,” President Trump warned — without naming incidents or offering evidence. His threat comes amid reports of clashes between Hamas and rival armed groups in Gaza.
An Israeli court has extended the detention of Hussam Abu Safiya, 52, director of a Gaza hospital, for six months, according to a Palestinian human rights organization.
No charges have been filed against Dr. Abu Safiya, and he has been denied the right to defend himself, including access to evidence or the opportunity to present a rebuttal.
The Palestinian Health Ministry has confirmed that 11-year-old Muhammad Bahjat al-Hallaq was shot and killed by Israeli forces in the town of al-Rihiya, near Hebron, in the southern occupied West Bank.
Witnesses reported that Israeli troops opened fire during a raid in the area, hitting the child. The Red Crescent said its ambulance teams were initially prevented from reaching him.
The incident comes amid an intensified wave of Israeli military and settler violence across the West Bank.
Israel has informed the Trump administration that it will not move forward with the next phase of the Gaza ceasefire until all captives’ remains are returned, according to a report by Axios.
Israeli officials reportedly acknowledged that while some remains may be difficult to locate, they believe between 15 and 20 bodies could be quickly found.
However, both Hamas and The Red Cross (ICRC) have emphasised that the task is extremely challenging due to the widespread destruction caused by Israel’s bombardment and ground operations in Gaza over the past two years.
Hamas’s armed wing, the Qassam Brigades, has released a statement confirming it has met its obligations under the ceasefire and prisoner terms outlined in President Trump’s Gaza plan.
“The resistance has adhered to what was agreed upon and has handed over all the living prisoners it has and the bodies it can access,” the group said.
The statement added that the remaining bodies of Israeli captives “require significant efforts and special equipment to search for and retrieve,” stressing that they are working to close this file completely.
The announcement comes as mediators in Egypt and Qatar continue to monitor both sides’ compliance with the ceasefire deal, which aims to end more than two years of devastating war in Gaza.
The IOF carried out a wave of overnight raids targeting multiple areas across the occupied West Bank, including Ramallah, el-Bireh, and Hebron.
In Ramallah, troops stormed the home of Issam al-Froukh, a recently freed Palestinian who had been sent to Gaza, ransacking the property and interrogating family members.
Meanwhile, at least seven homes were raided in Deir Ibzi, west of Ramallah, where residents were subjected to field interrogations. Similar incursions were reported in Ein Arik and Nilin, with local witnesses describing heavy military presence and widespread property damage.
These raids are part of a continuing Israeli campaign of arrests and intimidation across the West Bank amid Gaza ceasefire.
Reports from local sources indicate that Israel has declined to evacuate Abu Shabab’s and his militia, even though the group had cooperated with Israeli forces during recent operations in Gaza.
The militia, once believed to have assisted in providing intelligence and logistical support, has now been left exposed in northern Gaza.
Analysts suggest the decision reflects Israel’s “use-and-abandon” strategy toward local collaborators, prioritising military objectives over protection promises.
Shosh Bedrosian, spokesperson for the Israeli government, announced that a ceasefire in Gaza will take effect within 24 hours only following a cabinet meeting.
Speaking at a news conference, Bedrosian confirmed that Israel has signed the final draft of the agreement in Egypt this morning, signaling what could be the end of one of the deadliest chapters in the region’s history.
