Israel has informed the Trump administration that it will not move forward with the next phase of the Gaza ceasefire until all captives’ remains are returned, according to a report by Axios.
Israeli officials reportedly acknowledged that while some remains may be difficult to locate, they believe between 15 and 20 bodies could be quickly found.
However, both Hamas and The Red Cross (ICRC) have emphasised that the task is extremely challenging due to the widespread destruction caused by Israel’s bombardment and ground operations in Gaza over the past two years.
