Home Made Documentaries on a variety of topics and themes. These documentaries are all made by one person with very basic equipment and know-how. The topics covered have a general focus on social history and nostalgia.
The latest video release is actually an OLD video that has been re-uploaded, the only changes being minor audio tweaks and one copyrighted clip removed. It is therefore slightly rougher in quality than my more recent work, but is still presented in the way it was first made.
So, why no new video instead? Put simply, I am a bit busy at the moment and have little time to do filming schedules, but still want to maintain the channel with 'new' content. If you haven't already seen this - give it a go and let me know what you think!
OUT NOW - Discover the history of the Alton Towers Gardens! This is not actually a theme park documentary, it is all about the Earls of Shrewsbury and their ancestral home, and how they turned a once barren landscape into a beautiful garden.
For my next video (which may be coming out as early as tomorrow), I have set myself a challenge. How can I turn a rather dry and textbook history about a garden into a true "Left Hand Path" documentary? So in other words, you get the garden history right enough - but you also get poetry, melancholy, nostalgia, a bit of mystery and maybe even a faery folklore part? Hmm
OUT NOW - The follow up/sequel to my popular Imbolc documentary, in this video we continue the wheel of year to look at the history of Beltane! Please like and share, let's make the video another success!
I can now confirm that the next video is BELTANE, and will be appearing on the channel very shortly. But why no Ostara first?
Simply put, I will be away from home soon and will have no time to make the video in time, meaning I would miss the festival entirely. So instead I will be releasing Beltane early, giving it a full month and a bit for people to enjoy it before the festival itself appears. I can then do Ostara another time when I am able to make it as best as I can without being rushed.
I'm pleased to announce that the next "Wheel of the Year" video will soon be entering production! The script is written, and I'm currently waiting on the sun returning to the sky so I can plan a few days of filming.
I'll be visiting quite a few interesting places on the next video, similar in tone and style to my very popular Imbolc documentary. Look out for updates soon!
Yesterday I returned to the site of my most popular documentary by a huge margin. This is the site of the old Butlins camp at Barry Island, South Wales, where the intro and some later segments were filmed for the video.
My Butlin's documentary currently sits at over 142 thousand views, and remains the most frequently watched documentary across the whole channel. It was the amongst the first videos to include the now 'trademark' poetic sections, and was a pure joy to produce. I have since made many videos with the same focus and theme as this video, but none of them have achieved this level of success.
I think it is my flagship video (although Imbolc and Spinning are catching up)!
OUT NOW - The Beauty of Rosalia Lombardo. In this documentary I examine the history of the famous child mummy from Sicily's Capuchin Catacombs, sometimes known as 'Sleeping Beauty' and 'The Most Beautiful Mummy in the World'.
See this picture of a much younger ME, as well as others like it, in my latest video 'Britain's Zoo Story'.
In this image taken in the wild, I am seen in my natural habitat (known as a 'theme park'), and appear to be draped in the traditional plumage of 'shirt advertising the park I'm at'. Notice the specimen is engaged in the eating of soft served ice cream, but seems ready and waiting for the next ride, the eyes scanning the habitat for signs of queue lines decreasing. This is common behaviour in this species, who here is seen learning such tactics from a very young age.
Ahem.... for REAL commentary on nature and habitat, check out the new video. In the meantime, I've started working on the next one already!
