That’s why I go see Eric Seifert once a month.

Not to chase heavier and heavier weights. I’ve done that for 30 years. And if I’m honest, over time that approach just beats the joints up. Not sure if anyone can relate.

I go because I want to keep learning. I want to develop new skills, not just for me, but for my clients.

I want to understand how to make light to moderate weights feel heavy.

How to use position, stability, tempo, and intent to challenge a muscle in a completely different way.

It’s not always about adding more plates to the bar. It’s about putting your body in the right position and forcing the muscle to work with precision.

It's very humbling.

That kind of training makes you think.

It forces you out of your head and into your body.

And if I expect my clients to evolve, I have to keep evolving too.

That’s the standard.

*Eric Seifert you are the Guv’na. I feel so empowered always after seeing you. You are showing me a better way. A smarter way and saving me and my clients from getting banged up and injured. I just have to tame the ego when going back to the home gym. 🙏🏿

For me, training stopped being about me a long time ago.

It’s not about the mirror. Not about the weight on the bar.

It’s about giving everything I’ve learned, through wins, injuries, setbacks, and decades under the iron, to help someone else get stronger, healthier, and more confident.

My effort is an example. I train so I can lead from the front.

Every time I train, I’m building more than muscle, I’m building lessons I can hand to someone who needs belief, structure, and direction.

My motivation is impact. 🙏🏿

Biceps Superset: Stretch + Squeeze

Incline Dumbbell Curl (45°) & Spider Curls

One of my favourite supersets because it trains the biceps in two different length positions.

1. Incline Dumbbell Curl

Bench at 45°

Arms stay behind you in extension

Deep stretch before the curl

Use a heavier load

Control the negative

* Emphasizes the long head

2. Spider Curls

Chest supported

Arms slightly in front (flexion)

Lighter weight

Strict, squeeze hard

Emphasizes the short head

Why this Works:

Stretch + peak contraction in one superset = more complete biceps development.

If you have to swing, the weight’s too heavy.

The plan is to stand outside of original Golds for my 50th this year. I love the whole vibe of 70 & 80's California bodybuilding.

What about you Guv.

You can’t guide someone through a place you’ve never been.

Before social media.

Before filters.

Before “fitness influencers.” There was work.

Heavy work.

Uncomfortable work.

That’s where real knowledge is born.

You can’t teach what you haven’t lived.

The reps.
The discipline.
The setbacks. 🙏🏿

As a kid, I had images of Dave Draper in my head, that foundational old-school pose, isometric power.

I didn’t just admire it.....I stored it.

Then I trained my life toward it.

That’s the power of the mind with action.
Visualization without work is daydreaming.

Work without vision is wandering.

But when you combine both, over years, even decades, the picture in your head eventually becomes real.

This pose isn’t just muscle.

It’s patience, belief, and staying in the game long enough for the vision to catch up.

Respect Dave, thank you for your inspiration. 🙏🏿 🙌🏻

Seemed like a simpler time.

There are two types of physiques.

The ones that look impressive in the gym, And the ones that step on stage and expose the difference.

You can be the “big guy” in your local gym and still get completely outclassed under stage lights. Why? Because building a physique that looks good and building one that can stand against the best are two different games.

One is effort when it’s convenient. The other is a lifestyle when nobody’s watching.

This isn’t about doing more. It’s about removing what’s in the way. Less distractions.

Less late nights.
Less excuses.
Less things that don’t move your life forward.

Most people keep adding to their plate and wonder why they feel stuck.

The ones who level up?
They let things go.

Maybe this isn’t just about the gym for you.

Maybe this is the year you stop carrying habits, people, and patterns that keep you average.

Because “more” isn’t the answer.

Better standards are Guv'na.

Dear Gym,

Thank you for being a safe place. A place I can go when my mind is loud and the world feels heavy.

You’re always there.

Today. Tomorrow. On the good days and the hard ones. You don’t change. The weights don’t change. The iron doesn’t lie.

When life feels uncertain, you are certain.
When people come and go, the iron stays.

And somehow… so do I.

There were days I spent hours in your presence, not just building muscle, but building discipline, resilience, and peace.

You’ve seen frustration turn into focus. Pain turn into power.

Doubt turn into belief. I’m grateful for what you represent. Work. Structure. Effort. Growth.

I appreciate the iron. I respect the iron. I love the iron.

And I’m thankful there’s always a place where hard work makes sense.

Thank you, dear Gym. 🙏🏿
