What if...
• Bach composed masterpieces no one ever thought to look for?
• another Bach’s lute suites fell into the hands of a fishmonger?
• a lost cantata survived beneath candle wax and kitchen smoke?
• an unfinished fugue slept for centuries inside a cracked church wall?
• the music history forgot was never truly lost?
Welcome to Hypothetical Bach. This channel is devoted to answering these questions.
Bach was a great synthesizer; he continually revisited his own music while deepening ideas inherited from other composers and traditions. In our own small and respectful way, we are doing something similar with his work: listening closely to its language, structures, gestures, and spirit, then using modern tools to imagine new pieces. These are not presented as authentic lost works, but as acts of musical imagination, shaped by careful direction, repeated revision, and a love of Bach and the wider Baroque tradition.
We hope to make something beautiful for listeners.
