Basiani Ensemble
Ensemble “Basiani” was created in 2000, It became the Folk Ensemble of Georgian Patriarchate. The Ensemble is part of the Patriarchate Choir of Tbilisi Holy Trinity (Sameba) Cathedral which participates in services conducted by the Patriarch. In 2013 “Basiani” was conferred the status of State Ensemble of Georgian Folk Singing. Mr. Giorgi Donadze is a founder and Art Director of the Ensemble.
Basiani has revived a large number of traditional folk examples, released CDs, held concerts in Georgia and elsewhere; has participated in many internationally acclaimed festivals and performed at world prestigious venues, including Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Gulbekian Great Hall (Lisbon), Grand Hall of Saint Petersburg Academic Philharmonic, Grand Hall “Oktiabrskiy” in Saint Petersburg (Russia), Aldeburgh Music Festival since 1968 (England), Kilkenny Arts Festival (Ireland), Stanford Live’s Bing Concert Hall, CA; Cal Performances, CA; Lincoln Center, NY; The Town Hall, NY; Crannert Center, Il...
