Padepokan Tjipta Boedaja is an art center situated on the western slopes of Mount Merapi, in Magelang Regency. This padepokan was founded by Rama Joso Soedarmo in 1937. Wayang orang is a Javanese basic art form that has grown and developed.
In one year, Padepokan Tjipta Boedaja has four mandatory performance agendas: August, the Prophet's Birthday, Eid al-Fitr, and the month of Suro, which also coincides with the padepokan's birthday. In addition, there are routine activities every Friday night in the form of a gamelan playing ritual (uyon-uyon), which aims to be a form of respect and a spiritual means to get closer to God Almighty.
