The Forgotten Hearth

For over 20 years, we’ve been restoring and living in our 176-year-old log home in the Canadian countryside—bringing it back to life, piece by piece.

Here, I share our life in the country—log home restoration, DIY projects, backyard homesteading, and the quiet, everyday routines that come with it. It’s a slower, more intentional way of living, built over time.

After losing my parents, this house became something more than just a place to live. It gave me something steady to hold onto—something that helped me keep going when everything else felt uncertain.

I’ve come to believe that old homes have a soul—that we’re meant to honour the people who came before us and respect the hands that built them. Saving this home has been part of that… and part of finding my way forward.
