Well that is me just finished the Moomins and I just realized I got a few names wrong in the subtitles. Anyway as many of the episodes never had an English translation it is a bit of a slog. Anyway I will be keeping my eye peeled for the missing episodes of the 1969 series.

Well I have been posting episodes from the 1969 Moomin series and quite possibly doing the first English subtitles for some episodes. Now the thing is for the first 27 episodes it is okay but 29 episodes are still lost media. There's really no place up to watch what has been found, other than what's already up. Subtitles - as some people have realized I do my own subtitles - translating from Japanese can be a bit of a surreal experience particularly when the AI pulls out a totally inappropriate term in translation or I get bored when proof reading the text, anyway it takes on average about an hour to get the subtitles worked out and synch up the dialogue sometimes longer when there are words that don't really work.
Anyway I am about half way though the Moomins which is a bit different from the Moomin stories.
So I am looking for some 1980s anime - that does not have a serious copyright issue or annoying characters.
Anyway I shall get The Phantom empire finished off - I left Gene Autry in the middle of a fight with a man in a short skirt getting blown up by something that looks like a flying suppository. Though I could get something really funny done I could see if I could find the Exploitica version of the Phantom Empire.

At the moment I am doing some posts of the Japanese Moomin anime which was not approved by the authour Tove Jansson - Little My is wrong and Moomin is a even more wrong with guns. Anyway I have been busy translating the transcript which can be a bit of torture - so expect some pretty random stuff in them. As there are no English subtitles I have been getting some pretty surreal translating - that and well I do sometimes get creative. But then who can get tired of Little My even when she is attempting killing things?

The amount of cuts I have been forced to do with Space runaway Ideon is getting a bit ridiculous as well as slowing down posting, it does make it a bit disappointing when chunks of the episode is missing. But then it is more often that there are episodes I can post complete. I am mulling about the two films that were made that have the material from the remaining episodes can be posted.

Bad News - Space Runaway Ideon episode 15 has had so many copyright claims on it for parts of the episode Update I managed to edit out the parts that were an issue - so it is about half the length and as I added the subtitles before editing it - I managed to at least have the subtitles in synch so not as great a disaster as I had thought.

Well I had to trim 75 seconds out of Space Runaway Ideon and I forgot to note the part of the episode that I trimmed. However, I have had copyright claims generated by Youtube AI mostly music - in one case it was a melody that was recorded in 1972 by a composer who was born in 1989 which does go into the realms of taking the urine.

Taking a break today to put on some episodes of the Anime Triton of the Seas from 1972. This is a hand drawn anime from 1972 and I managed to find some episodes so I am posting a few today thankfully they have sub titles so none of those random subs which I have to spend half an hour to proof read the translation especially as I used AI to translate the Japanese to avoid some of the more interesting phrases. So I shall be posting all 27 episodes of the series, based on the manga by Osamu Tezuka.
The story : "Triton of the Sea” (originally titled “Blue Triton”) tells the heroic story of Triton, the sole survivor of the destruction of Atlantis five thousand years ago. The sea god Poseidon and his family destroyed both the island and Triton’s family because of a jealous rivalry between the two clans. Triton is rescued and raised by humans but he returns to the sea to avenge the murder of his family by killing the offspring of Poseidon. He does so with the help of his dolphin companions and he also marries the last surviving mermaid, Pipiko, with whom he has seven children, named after the colors of the rainbow. The saga of inter-familial strife between the two families plays out in a tragic manner, with both Triton and Poseidon dying in the end. The children of Triton and other merpeople are left to find a place to live far away from the humans who hunt them.

The plot has little to do with any traditional Greek mythological narrative associated with the sea gods Triton or Poseidon, but it is clearly inspired by mythical figures and the motifs of ancient heroic epic.

I am looking for old anime series that really need to be seen - I have seen a few poor quality VHS transfers but what really needs to be done is find some that really need to get a new lease of viewing. I am going for a couple of episodes of Space Runaway Ideon so I should have all 39 episodes posted in a couple of weeks,

I am also looking at some anime from 1980 and I think Rescueman, aka Time Patrol Tai Otasukeman will be my next series to bring out The anime aired between February 1980 to January 1981 on Fuji Television. It was supposedly planned for a Western release under the name Rescueman, but it never went in due to licensing or production issues.

Well looking at some old 1980s anime and a couple have picqued my interest. Space Runway Ideon which is a mecha anime which I have found some high quality videos, with no serious copyright issues, mostly music. Ii am going to see about getting decent subtitles

The other series I found is The White Whale of Mu which has a strong vibe of The Mysterious Cities of Gold though the sad thing is that I have only found 11 episodes out of 26 and they have some iffy subtitles. Anyway I shall be doing some work on looking for some over looked anime
