The world ocean has a profound impact on our planet. It is the birthplace of life, the moderator of Earth's climate, the producer of more than half of the oxygen in Earth's atmosphere, the provider of much of the world's food, and an endless source of fun, inspiration, and reflection. The world ocean deserves our understanding and our protection. We know so little about the world ocean. Encourage your leaders to support scientific research on the world ocean. Participate in local groups that help protect and preserve the world ocean. Be mindful of the things that you do that contribute to a healthy and productive world ocean. We are all part of the world ocean. We live because the sea lives.
