Ummah Sight

A man was once in discussion with al-Hasan al-Basrī رحمه الله.
He asked:

“O Abū Sa’īd! I have a daughter whom I love dearly. A man of worldly means has proposed marriage to her. Who do you think is best for her to marry?”

Al-Hasan رحمه الله replied:

Marry her to a man who fears Allāh. For when he loves her, he will honour her, and if he dislikes her, he will not wrong her.
