The People's Constitution Commission of Belize has organized meetings across the country relating to the constitutional review process. The Roman Catholic Church supports good governance initiatives in society and counts the present review process as a privileged opportunity for all Belizeans to participate in. Through reflection on revelation and through reason, the Church has developed a Social Teaching that contains principles for building a free and virtuous society that fosters human fulfillment. The Diocese of Belize City-Belmopan has established the Roman Catholic Constitution Commission (RCCC) to animate the Church’s participation in the review process. Some of the aims of the RCCC include educating Belizean Catholics on the treasure of Catholic Social Teaching, encouraging civic participation among Belizean Catholics, and dialoguing with Belizeans of goodwill on concrete proposals for amending the Constitution.
