Cairiss are a blackgaze/post-black metal band based in the south of England. They were founded in 2013 by songwriter and guitarist Ethan Bishop; vocalist, lyricist and artist Freya Brown and drummer Connor Frapwell. They were later joined by songwriter, guitarist and vocalist Martin Williams; bassist Alex Taylor and vocalist Lydia Williams.

In February 2014, they released their first demo track Disgraced, which gained significant attention within the blackgaze scene. This was followed by their debut EP Fall in 2016. Cairiss now returns in 2026 with their album 'Wilderness'

Cairiss base their conceptual world-building around introspection and emotional turmoil. Cairiss combines black-metal inspired harsh vocals with crushing guitars, orchestral harmonies and ethereal choral arrangements to create a sound that’s rich in atmosphere and emotional depth. They pair layered dynamic shifts with open, emotive concepts to reflect a personal exploration of vulnerability and human resilience.
