Dongwan Kook works on the unconsciousness and the way reaching it with drawing, painting, sculpture, and books. The dream archive work, which has been continuing since 2007, melts the relationship between herself and dreams into the characteristics of books and sculptures by comparing the arbitrary relationship between language and memory. The drawing ‘Hoigwang-Banjo’ using ‘free association’ is a tool to discover herself in the present, and the artist develops the painting series that enlarges the drawing several hundred times by observing in detail the unconscious. Shifting the disciplined gaze to the social phenomena that pierce her life, the dreamer pays attention to the artistic connection between the individual and the society.
