Lokaswara Projects

Lokaswara was founded in 1992 by Dr. Franki Raden, a prominent composer, ethnomusicologist and cultural critic graduated from University of Wisconsin, Madison.
It is a cultural institution based in Jakarta and Bali that aims to empower performing and visual artists through workshops, conferences, festivals, and media across Indonesia. Among the main Lokaswara’s projects are: (1) Indonesian National Orchestra or INO, (2) Indonesian Music Expo or IMEX, (3) Toraja International Festival or TIF, and (4) Jakarta Beat Society or JBS. In addition to these activities, Lokaswara also have produced Operas, Concerts, CDs, Lectures, and Ethnographic Films in Indonesia and abroad. On the top of these, Lokaswara also acts as cultural consultant for a few educational institutions. Among our clients is Indonesian International Islamic University (UIII) in Jakarta. For certain projects such as Indonesian Music Expo, Lokaswara collaborates with global institutions likes WOMEX (Worldwide Music Expo).
