On 20th May 1989, I went with a few mates to see Then Jerico at the Cambridge Corn Exchange. There were flyers on every seat, on the front was a photo of someones crossed fingers, on the back was details of this band Skin Games and their new single "Your Luck's Changed".
Skin Games were the support for Then Jerico. They came onto what little stage they had been allocated to a moderate welcome, we'd already decided they were going to be rubbish (as most support bands were back then and possibly still are) - and then they started.

I realised within the first minute that my pre-judgement was incorrect. This band could really play and sounded great even though the overall sound at the venue wasn't good. The singer was wearing a bright, long, flowery dress and totally oozed confidence and energy that made everyone take notice and win us all over. I remember Wendy introducing "Your Luck's Changed", "Skin Games" and possibly "Public Life" but can't be sure of any other titles from that evening.

I bought the 12" of "Your Luck's Changed" (produced by Stephen Hague, photography by Simon Fowler, released on the (CBS) Epic label) a week or two after that gig. Not long after that I bought their first and only album, "The Blood Rush" on vinyl as well as finding their first three singles on 7" and three promo cassettes on the same day in a local second hand record shop. I was actually more impressed with the three 7" b-sides than their a-sides or debut album...either way I was totally hooked, but not many other people were.
And then they were gone.
