Bell Plaines is the musical works of filmmaker / director Spencer Gentz. By day Spencer directs music videos and commercials, working with bands such as The Shins, Nada Surf, Portugal. The Man, Chris Staples, Telekinesis, The Mimicking Birds, Pure Bathing Culture, and others. After hours and between film projects Spencer writes and records music under the name Bell Plaines.
Spencer’s music has been used by clients such as, Patagonia, Hurley, Nike, Google, Adobe, REI, YETI, Infiniti Motor Company, Lincoln, Marmot and many others. In the spring of 2020 Spencer released his 4th full length album under Bell Plaines titled Through Fog which has gone on to receive critical acclaim.
Most recently Spencer collaborated with Yuuki Matthews of the Shins, who produced a remix for "When the Rain Comes Back" from the new album.
