Since independence, Chattogram had been one of the most poverty-stricken Districts of the country while people of this region were deprived of basic healthcare facilities, education support, livelihood opportunities and other social security services. Considering the distress of the people, Monowara Begum, with some kind-hearted volunteer personnel, founded Prottyashi in 1983 in a remote village (Akubdondi) under Boalkhali Upazila of the Chattogram and started its operation through implementing a small-scale family planning program focusing on maternal and child health. services in both development and humanitarian response in partnership with several national and international development agencies. The organization has been aiming to contribute to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through aiming to improving quality of underprivileged people through engaging government and civil societies to make them sustainable and create a significant impact for targeted people.
