Women of the Middle East

In the Women of the Middle East Podcast, Dr. Amal Al-Malki attempts to bridge the worlds of academia and activism. Tapping into her unique position as a Qatari scholar with an international reach and credibility, she offers women an audiovisual platform to discuss the topics that are most relevant to them beyond cultural filters and historical stereotypes.

The podcast is also set to educate and empower the younger generation of Middle Eastern women, who were stripped of their historical references and weren’t raised to believe in their agency and power to create their own destiny.

Dr. Amal Al-Malki is Founding Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Hamad bin Khalifa University, Qatar Foundation. She also served as Associate Professor at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar where she taught courses in writing composition, postcolonial literature, theories of translation and Islamic feminism.
