If you want to know more about Mitochondrial Complex I (MCI) and role of ROS in maintaining synaptic activities; here is our latest findings published in PLOS Biology from Andy Frank Lab.
Key Novel Findings:
1. Mitochondrial ROS in pre and post-synaptic sites play an oppssing role in maintaining synaptic activities.
2. ROS generated from pre-synaptic mitochondria has an compensatory role in maintaining synaptic homeostasis where as post-synaptic ROS has a opposing role and many more.
3. Pre-synaptic ROS activates transport of ER calcium to mitochondria to maintain synaptic activity.
4. Mitochondrial ROS from MCI promotes Glycolytic and TCA cycle pathways to maintain synaptic activity when the oxidative phosphorylation pathway is impaired.
Here I am putting two stories: How it was started (Story 1:2022) and how we came up with the mechanistic details (Story 2: 2025)

Story-2: Here is the full story with the mechanistic details after 3 years: journals.plos.org/plosbiology/article?id=10.1371/j…

Story-1: How the story was started@2022: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35557603/
