A real treat arrived from Sigma UK - a loan of the 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN II Art lens for a few weeks. Charged up the Leica SL3 and headed out to a popular North Dorset woodland to see what I could capture. What a beauty of a lens - smooth, solid, reasonable weight, and the confidence of a quality result. A big thank you to my friends at Sigma UK for the opportunity 🙂

A pretty harsh crop of an image of Rhiw Fachno quarry (North Wales) in a snow storm. Originally I took a much wider scene, but when it got to the processing stage one side of the image grabbed my eye more than the rest. Usually, the fact that the Sigma fpL has a 61 mega pixel sensor passes me by, but on this day I was grateful to have so much data to play with and come away with a usable image.

I've been struggling with the metering for my medium format film camera, but a subscriber suggested why not my digital camera to do the metering for me rather than grapple with a separate lightmeter. Exactly one week ago, I was dodging rain showers in North Wales and scrambling over wet rocks at a location called Fairy Glen. To position ourselves for this view was not the most comfortable, but the result was well worth it!
