Arnos Vale is a Victorian cemetery near Bristol which fell into disrepair in the 1980s. After a compulsory purchase by the city council it is now maintained by volunteers who are gradually reclaiming and revealing the 45 acre site. Nature has well and truly taken over, making for a fascinating collection of stone, trees, bushes, and wild flowers. On a bright sunshine Saturday I visited this location with my full spectrum infrared converted Sony A7 camera and the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN to see what I could find. It is an amazing, sobering, but also very interesting place to visit if only to find and read the 200 year old inscriptions - the first burial here was on the 29th July 1839!

Sigma Selfie Sunday strikes again! 🙂 Very fortunate to have been invited out on Friday evening to a local piece of woodland and, because of the sunshine weather the UK is experiencing at the moment used the opportunity to continue to explore my (new to me) full spectrum IR converted Sony A7 with the excellent Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 DC DN Contemporary lens. What did I learn? Well, just like visible light photography, even IR needs light on a subject! Lovely evening to be out 🙂

It's Sunday Sigma Selfie time, but this time with a sample! 🙂 Spent an interesting few hours yesterday at Arno's Vale near Bristol - an overgrown Victorian Cemetery. In the bright sunshine it was an excellent infrared location and despite the 30+ (degrees C) temperatures really enjoyed my time there. This time I took a (new to me) Sony A7 that had been converted to full spectrum infrared partnered with the excellent Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 DC DN Contemporary lens. Definitely a place to return to in cooler temperatures🙂

Extremely proud to have been featured in a blog on the official Sigma UK website with some words of experience regarding infrared digital photography. I've recently had the opportunity to loan the excellent SIGMA UK Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN lens which I used with a Sony camera converted to full spectrum infrared on a recent trip up to the North West of England. With this combination I managed to create a variety of images that I am extremely pleased with and are featured in the article.

Last week I published my 6 month review of 2026 so far on my YouTube channel, and it was a mixed bag of lessons learned and slight success.
I've been thinking about launching a weekly podcast type video, with a working title of "Mid-week tog talk" where I talk to camera for 5 or so minutes on a topic related to my photography, or a recent photography experience. I'm thinking I might trial it for a number of months, and see what interest it generates.
I've got some topics listed already, but wondered whether there was anything specific that you my watchers would like me to talk about, or a question to answer, or a general query about my photography/landscape choices.
Please let me know in the comments below.
Thank you in advance :)

It's Sunday Sigma Selfie time! 🙂 Not long returned from a week exploring the edge of the Peak District near to Macclesfield, and visited the Three Shires Head falls on the final day. Gave the Sigma 28-70mm f2.8 DG DN Contemporary lens some love as it has been usurped to some extent by the incredibly versatile Sigma 20-200mm f3.5-6.3 DG Contemporary lens. Anyhow, it was perfect for this location, and it was nice to re-acquaint myself with this excellent lens 🙂

It's Sunday, so it is time for a Sigma Selfie 🙂 Not long returned from a week exploring the edge of the Peak District near to Macclesfield, and visited the Three Shires Head falls on the final day. Brought out the Sigma 16-28mm f2.8 DG DN Contemporary lens for some wide angle action to capture the entire scene. I'll pop the processed final image on here at some point in the not too distant future 🙂

I recently picked up a Panasonix Lumix 28-200 f4-7.1 S lens, which I purchased for a specific purpose which will feature later in the year on my YouTube channel. However, I decided that it would be a good idea to put the lens through its paces BEFORE attempting to use it for real for its intended purchase. So, with a bluebell wood nearby I gave it a good workout to see what it was capable of.

It's Sunday, so it is time for my weekly Sigma Selfie, today in the form of Sigma's 105mm Macro. I've been very lucky to be able to borrow one, so I took it out to Sherborne market this morning to see what I could find. 🙂 Excellent market by the way and well worth a visit! Completely outside my comfort zone, and not exactly the most ideal situation for a Macro lens, but it didn't take long to find items of interest... AND even some people 🤗

I'm slowly trying out the Sigma Art zoom lenses, and in this weeks video on my YouTube channel I put the Sigma 14-24mm f2.8 DG DN Art to the test in a local wild garlic wood. Admittedly, not the best of location choices for a wide zoom. But, if I could make the lens work for me here, then surely it would be a good choice? Right? 🙂
