Sounds like the soundtrack of a 90s movie thrown in a blender. 90s hip hop beats and alternative rock guitars melt into something fresh

Max Oakland grew up in smalltown Illinois and dreamed of being an artist in a big city.

From the artist: “I took piano lessons and wrote a few songs. I’d get into a zone while playing with clay where I’d sing a song out of nowhere. Later, I was in chorus and made video games. Suddenly, I needed music for my games. That lead me to start learning GarageBand and music production.

I was obsessed with the song “Torn” by Natalie Imbruglia and I found out it was really written by 90s grunge band Ednaswap. Ednaswap and my dad’s rarely-played Nirvana album became the gateway to a world of retro 90s media from Tori Amos to Alice In Chains. It all inspired me with its raw, lived-in emotion. There was a world out there I never knew existed and I wanted to be part of it.

It was a no-brainer to combine all those things into one. And that’s what my music is”
