Imagine the soundtrack of a 90s movie thrown in a blender. 90s boom bap hip hop beats and alternative rock guitars blend into something fresh and tasty: Max Oakland's music

From the artist: “I grew up in a small Midwestern town and dreamed of being an artist in a big city. I took piano lessons and wrote a few songs. Or I’d get into a zone while playing with clay where I’d start singing out of nowhere. Later, I was in chorus and made video games. I needed music for my games, so I started learning GarageBand and music production.

I was also obsessed with the song “Torn” by Natalie Imbruglia. I found out it was really written by 90s grunge band Ednaswap. That plus my dad’s hidden Nirvana album became the gateway to a world of retro 90s art from Tori Amos to Alice In Chains. It inspired me with its raw, lived-in emotion. There was a world out there I never knew existed and I wanted to be part of it.

It was a no-brainer to combine all those things into one. And that’s what my music is”

I love both games, but Mario 3 is way more ambitious, darker, and weirder, so I give it a higher rating. Mario World feels like a fun, cute, bright world to explore where Mario 3 feels like a rambling, strange, and mysterious dream

I just got an email that I can start my own community here on YouTube! Pretty cool. What kind of things should I share here?

And if you do any covers or fan edits with my songs I’d love to see them

I've got a new song and it's different! is about Insecurity, fear, and the hope that one day you'll put those insecurities behind you and fly above the wasteland. Listen on Spotify: open.spotify.com/track/5jZmcGDvHlNT2JdONtvGh1

This song is the first time someone else has entirely produced the instruments and wrote the backing music for me. Shoutout to Cousin Ches for his great work! We'll be collaborating more in the future.

Sonically, I'd describe Rope & Wire as a combination of 90s alternative rock and 90s R&B. I love bands like Nirvana and TLC so combining them makes perfect sense in my mind. I'm interested to see how other people interpret this song. Does it sound anything like my description? Does the combo feel like a natural fit or like a freak of nature?

Hey everyone! This is the instrumental version of my song "Got Time Acoustic Version." This rendition strips away the vocals and focuses on the rich instrumentation, allowing the melody and arrangement to take center stage. It's a fresh perspective that highlights the intricate layers of the music and invites you to appreciate the composition in a new light. Whether you enjoy instrumental music for relaxation, study, or simply to appreciate the musical details, I hope this version captivates you
