Let's take a look at why your running technique could actually be the cause of your pain - BUT why running itself is NOT to blame! ⁣

Firstly, whilst most running websites will tell you that it's your mileage increase that has caused your pain, this is only a small part of the problem... ⁣

The main problem is often not that you run - but the WAY that you run. ⁣

The piriformis is a small guy with a big job. It both externally rotates the hip in extension (leg turned out + drawn back) and controls abduction when the hip is flexed (pulls knee out when knee is bent). Essentially: it helps controls the position of your leg - muy importante. ⁣

Problem: if you over-extend (land your foot too far forward of your body), and/ or turn your foot inward or outward when you run - the piriformis has to do more work than it should. If you're running a lot of miles this is obviously multiplied! ⁣

Solution: progressively start to run with a more natural, energy-efficient, technique - with the help of my BONUS Natural Running Technique Essentials Masterclass! ⁣
