Fire Emblem | ROM hacks
I want to help the Fire Emblem romhacking community create great games. I hope to achieve this through the following content types on my channel:
1) Provide feedback to creators on their in-development Fire Emblem fan games / romhacks / hackroms
2) Teach and foster discussion surrounding topics in Fire Emblem-style game development, predominantly focused on chapter, map, and unit design, through slideshows and unscripted videos
3) Analyze chapters to distill gameplay/narrative elements to improve and implement in your own game
4) Preserve footage of old hacks and vanilla games through casual LPs for educational, entertainment, and archival purposes
My videos are largely unscripted and I prefer to think of my videos as a podcast-like experience w/ a visual backdrop.
I created my own Fire Emblem 8 romhack, Vision Quest, in May 2020.

When I was working on Vision Quest, I did a lot of research into vanilla FE and hacks. I played games and watched LPs to understand what worked well, what players liked, and to take ideas and make them my own. This process was helpful for me in making the hack better.
I made a guide that outlines my process: feuniverse.us/t/design-guide-doing-better-research…
I recommend considering some of these things if you are designing your own hack/fangame. Having a good foundation of knowledge, a process for executing, and a clear design vision is key to making something strong.
Enjoy!

Recommend giving it a read if you're looking to improve in this area.

The Last Promise originated as a "forum hack" in the early days of FE romhacking. This meant the hack was developed by the community in public before Blazer took over and finished the project in 2012.
This year is the ten year anniversary of TLP's release. To celebrate, the folks at Fire Emblem Universe are creating a new "forum hack" to use the latest and greatest tech and ideas in the community.
We are building in public on the FEU discord. Check out #community-projects here for more details: discord.com/invite/34Pjeww
