DATU is a dance, world, R*B and electronic band created by Toronto-based composers Lex Junior and Romeo Candido.
Best known as the godfathers of modernizing Filipino cultural music, A La Una is evolving beyond its roots to explore new sonic landscapes, tempos, stories and textures. In short: they’re taking things global.
Under DATU, the duo’s music was featured on TV shows, ad campaigns, and hit Wavelengths music’s Top 100 Canadian Songs List in 2017. Since then, they’ve racked up over a million video views and performed at music festivals including NXNE and Summerworks.
In honour of their creative renewal, A La Una has released a palette- cleansing playlist of ambient and meditation music as a pre-cursor to their next release - ‘SWANS’. This single sets the stage for a more upbeat, lighter sound that will welcome the people back when dancefloors can once again be populated.
