I am the mother of two amazing girls and the stepmother of an amazing stepson. I have lived with chronic illness since I was 6 years old, but spent my life being dismissed, invalidated, and demeaned by the medical community at large. I finally, at 36, got diagnoses. My laundry list includes Multiple Sclerosis (MS), dysautonomia with symptoms of autonomic failure (probably the most debilitating of my illnesses), hEDS, MCAS, Hashimoto’s, and Raynaud’s. I was on chemo for my MS, and several medications for dysautonomia, including daily fluid infusions, so I have a port.
I’ve always struggled, but 2019 and 2020 brought on drastic and rapid decline. I’m here just to share my experiences and speak my truth. All too often chronically ill people are expected to suffer in silence as to not inconvenience anyone and not seem dramatic or negative. I’m blasting through that nonsense and being honest, raw, and real.
