Farm Grown, Country Strong

Welcome to Farm Grown, Country Strong's YouTube page! Here we have videos ranging from modern farming to antique tractors and from country life to fun with friends and family! As a farm we run 200 acres and are located in Northeast Wisconsin. Along with being a small dairy operation, we also like to raise some cash crops every year such as soybeans or winter wheat.

Curious if anyone has gone to the World Dairy Expo this year yet? Any of you bring any animals? We'll be going on Thursday, wondering if there's anything specific we should check out!

If you could do one or the other, would you no-till or conventional plant row crops?

It seems that there are two pretty distinct camps in planting: The "no-till community" and the older school "plow boy community". Both insists that there's only one way to do it. We are somewhere in between the two. We like working all of our corn ground, and no-tilling soybeans. At least in our ground, that seems to be a pretty effective method. Our corn seems to do better in tilled ground, while our soybeans seem to perform equally in both conditions.

You need to bring bales in for the cows... What are you going with?

We found a lot of bizarre things in our fields over the years, but today we found one of the dumber ones. While unloading hay, I saw part of a water bottle sticking out of a bale. I pulled it out only to find it full of Bud Lite bottle caps. Looking at the bale, the other half of the water bottle was sticking out also, and it was also full of bottle caps. Taking the bale apart, there were even more bottle caps spread around.
The problem is that throwing your waste into a farm field isn't just littering, it's also causing risks to animals if it ends up in their feed. Especially something metal like the rusted bottle caps. "Hardware", as it is called when consumed by an animal, causes internal bleeding, digestion issues, and is one of the leading causes of death for cows. Thousands of dollars in loses can come from one act of negligence, whether the losses be through vet bills, animal deaths, or drop in production through sick animals.
Ultimately, don't be the lowlife who throws stuff in farms fields or ditches.

After over 20 years of harvesting together, we're parting ways with the Case IH 1620 combine. We decided to upgrade to a newer model (vid coming soon!), and the 1620 is coming up for sale next week on AuctionTime ( 0 CASE IH 1620 www.auctiontime.com/listings/farm-equipment/auctio… ) If you're looking for a combine, this has been a great machine for us. It's a '92, the last year they made them, and has the 5.9 Cummins with only 2000 engine hours. Always stored inside, greased, well taken care of! It has been in a lot of videos over the years if you want to see it! https://youtu.be/PBX4SXRPS5E?si=KQ-A0...
Also for sale will be the Case IH 1043 corn head that we have for it. Find it all on AuctionTime, with the sale ending Wednesday the 28th.

I found this rock out in a field... Is this a fossilized canine footprint?? It kind of looks like it.

Our no-till soybeans are looking good. We no-tilled them into one of the fields we took rye off.
