I'm an astrophotographer from Australia.
Whenever possible, I'm always outside during the night capturing stunning pix of our universe with simple equipment. Nothing fancy or high-tech, just budget equipment and good knowledge of astrophotography.

Clear skies! 🌌

Stellar Imagery

I decided to try Pixinsight. So I got the free trial and gave it a go.

These are some of my photos I got about a month ago—the Orion Nebula and Southern Pinwheel Galaxy. I loaded them into Pixinsight and did a reprocess... it turned out spectacular!

Incredible software, but cost WAYY to much. To get the full licence, it cost €270, which is over $500 AUD.

My latest astrophoto — the Omega Nebula!
The Omega Nebula (Messier 17/M27) is a massive, active star-forming region located approximately 5,500 light-years away in the constellation Sagittarius. Also known as the Swan Nebula and Lobster Nebula, it contains one of the galaxy's youngest star clusters, with some stars being only one million years old. The nebula is a hotbed of stellar activity, producing bright emission nebulae colored by chemical elements like red (sulfur), green (hydrogen), and blue (oxygen).

Stellar Imagery

Hello everybody!
Last night, I photographed the Cat's Paw Nebula (NGC 6334), a big emission nebula in Scorpius. This is by far one of the coolest nebulae I've captured, but it was a bit tricky to get this result. I had collected 93 minutes of total exposure, using my Celestron Nexstar 130SLT and in combination with my unmodified Canon EOS 450D.

What do you all think about it?

I was a bit bored today, so I decided to do another revision process on my capture of Orion I got about 3 weeks ago. And it turned out great! Look at those details and the beautiful hydrogen alpha emissions.

What do you think?

Update:

I've been customising my Sky-Watcher Travel Scope 70 and it looks epic. I also gave the lenses a good clean.

However, after I cleaned the lenses and went out one night to test the scope, the stars were a horrible egg shape. Then, I realised that when I took the lens cell out of the tube to clean the lenses, it actually made everything misaligned.

Therefore, I had to realign the lenses properly. After that, I went out again and the stars were sharp and pinpoint.

But I noticed a strange, hazy halo around them. It wasn't out of focus, chromatic aberration, fog, dew or cloud causing this. I am not sure what the heck this is, but it is very frustrating and this has been lasting for weeks.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

Thanks.

Stellar Imagery

I recently captured NGC 6752, commonly known as the Peacock Globular Cluster or Caldwell 93.

I aimed for around 800 images with very short 5-second exposures, but I lost about half of my data due to clouds.

Despite only having less than 40 minutes of total exposure time, I'm quite happy with how the final image turned out.

But what do you all think?

Hello!

Last night, I used my smartphone, a 2x Barlow and a 9mm eyepiece to photograph Saturn. 🪐 It isn't the best image but keep in mind that this was taken with a simple phone and the weather conditions were not great.

I am thinking of purchasing a planetary camera soon to start doing some proper planetary astrophotography.

Stellar Imagery

Last night, I captured a portion of the Small Magellanic Cloud.

For those who don't know what the SMC is, it's an irregular dwarf satellite galaxy that orbits the Milky Way. The SMC is at an approximate distance of 18,900 light-years (5.78 kiloparsecs).

And there is also another galaxy that is basically the bigger brother of this—it is the Large Magellanic Cloud.

In this picture, there are a few DSOs like NGC 292 (The SMC itself), NGC 326, NGC 330, NGC 371 and more.

This image includes exactly 1 hour of total exposure time.

I've finished my multi-night M27 imaging project! After 3 nights of imaging, I managed to collect 5.4 hours of total exposure time.

What do you think?
