We’re burning this forest to bring it back.

In La Mosquitia, Honduras, repeated wildfires have turned large areas of pine forest into barren savanna.

Together with our new partner‪@Paskaia‬, we’re supporting Indigenous Miskito communities working to break that cycle.

Local fire brigades patrol the land, build firebreaks and put out uncontrolled fires 🔥

But they also carry out controlled burns.

Burning vegetation around protected areas removes fuel for future wildfires and can also help the pine forest regenerate by releasing seeds from its cones.

With funding from the ‪@Ecosia‬ community, ‪@Paskaia‬ can now protect more land and help bring back 150,000 trees 💚

We're working with over 600 farming families in Kenya to plant trees, restore land, and improve livelihoods.

Joseph and Mary have been planting trees since 2023, and now have almost 100 fruit trees on their small farm. They're seeing better fruit yields, healthier soil, and more income to support their family.

This is what progress looks like.

🔥🎥 New video is out! 🎥🔥

This time, we’re bringing you a video produced directly by our partner ‪@Paskaia‬, with on-the-ground footage from our project in Honduras.

La Mosquitia was once covered by one of Central America’s most important forests. Today, recurring wildfires are turning it into savanna.

So together with Paskaia and the local Miskito community, we’re doing something unexpected: fighting fire with fire 🔥

How does it work? And can fire really stop wildfires?

24,000 trees growing back, thanks to your searches on Ecosia 🌳

This 12.5 hectare site in Brazil is part of our work with our partner IPÊ to restore the Atlantic Forest.

Patch by patch, the forest is coming back – creating a corridor that lets wildlife move between forest areas in search of food, shelter and mates.

Thanks for being part of it! And if you aren’t yet, download the Ecosia app and start planting trees with your searches 💚
