Hi, I’m Taylor. I'm a late-diagnosed autistic mom, creator, and educator learning how to live more gently while getting to know my neurodivergent brain.
I found out I was autistic at 31, and suddenly many of my repeated struggles made sense. That relief and clarity is something I wish I could give to anyone who has been wondering why life feels different for you.
This channel is where we work through shame, drop the mask, and connect with people who understand how overwhelming this process can be. Whether you’re late-diagnosed, self-diagnosed, or still exploring, you’re welcome here exactly as you are.
🎥 ⭐️ New videos premiere most Wednesdays at 2 PM CT.
If you’re wanting more of that feeling of being seen, my Connection Groups are a space for honest conversation and genuine support (links below).
I’m not a doctor, just a human sharing lived experience. Please talk with your healthcare provider before making medical decisions based on anything you see here.

Needing alone time is often about recovery, not rejection. Space can be care, too.

Direct communication is often misunderstood as disrespect. Sometimes it’s just honesty spoken differently.

Mom on the Spectrum
Hey everyone! We're still on for today's video premiere at 2 PM CT: Why Autism Shows Up Later in Life (https://youtu.be/_VFWsJ5XgRU?si=y97Ao...)
But unlike other weeks, there will not be a mental health check-in livestream following the video premiere today. I am going on Day 5 of being unable to speak!! I have an intense case of laryngitis. Other than not being able to make sound, I'm mostly feeling fine, just frustrated. Turns out my voice is very necessary for this gig. 😎
If you have suggestions, I'm all ears! Here's what I've tried:
👉 manuka honey
👉 throat coat tea
👉 Entertainer's throat spray
👉 tons of water
👉 allergy meds
👉 strict vocal rest
👉 no whispering
Thanks everyone for your patience with the schedule changes this week! Hopefully we'll be back to regular programming next week. 🤞

Autism in women doesn’t always look the way people expect.
Many traits are subtle, internal, or misunderstood so they get labeled as personality, sensitivity, or anxiety instead of being recognized for what they are.
This series breaks down easily missed autistic traits in women especially the ones that are hidden by masking.
If you’ve ever felt like something didn’t fully explain your experience, you’re not alone.

Mom on the Spectrum
Another THANK YOU for all of your support over the past five years, across every platform!
I want to take a minute to address the single moms out there. I started MOTS in one of the most difficult seasons of my life. I bet on myself, took baby step after baby step on my own timeline, using the resources I had available (time, energy, money). Sometimes that was almost nothing.
I am a firm believer that we can be successful while staying true to what aligns with our capacity. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.
Listen to the feedback your body gives you. Rest is important and sacred. It does not prevent you from going where you want to go.
The responsibilities of motherhood are unending. It is important to carve out time for yourself. In my opinion one of the most beneficial things to do with this time outside of rest (seriously any extra time even 5 minutes after you drop the kids off for school) is to create. Something, anything that helps you put more of yourself out into the world, even if it feels small.
This reminds us to take up space, that our voice matters and makes a difference. And we are capable of creating new things every day!
Use your pain, use your joy, use your limitations to get creative. When you find yourself making comparisons to other parents, coworkers, family members - remind yourself that it's ok to do things differently. It's not only ok, it's important.
You are not alone. You are not reduced to the role you fill as a mother. You are a whole person who deserves to take up space and be seen.
Thank you for letting me take up space here, for listening to my story, and for supporting me with kind and encouraging feedback over the past 5 years. This community has been a beacon of hope during one of the darkest chapters of my life.
Sending so much love your way,
Taylor

Mom on the Spectrum
Mom on the Spectrum turns 5 TODAY! 🎉
On this day, five years ago, I snuck into a poorly lit classroom that had been neglected after months of COVID quarantining to shoot my first video.
I leaned my outdated iPhone against a book which was on top of a humming mini fridge and hit record.
My first video was titled "How to Balance Social Media and Your Mental Health" (you can watch it here: https://youtu.be/PDZu59x5KGE?si=LfTgK.... And even though it wasn't about autism, it was me testing the waters and taking the first step towards what I knew to be true in my soul. Learning I was autistic changed my life, and I wanted to tell the world about it.
The MOTS community grew slowly then all at once. Over the past five years I've connected with so many of you in the comments, in dms, in emails, in the Circle community. And I started realizing THIS is where my people have been all along! I no longer feel broken or ashamed. I feel happy to be who I am, and I know I have a place where I belong.
Those of you who have been here for a while have been with me through name changes (Tay the Atypical Aspie is where we started), intro music changes (oooof, the original intro was SENSORY OVERWHELM), style changes (edited vs. unedited), and more.
Today, Mom on the Spectrum reflects the culmination of community needs, ideas, suggestions, and what I've been able to create while going through the most difficult time of my life (separation, divorce, health challenges, kids diagnoses). The messages I've received from so many of you have truly kept me going when everything felt impossible.
To those of you who have something on your heart that you want to create, I gently encourage you to take one baby step towards that today. It doesn't have to be perfect. It doesn't have to have a logo, or a website, or a color palette. Or a social media handle. It just has to end up outside of your body. Take what is inside and gently pulllll it out, whether that's on paper, in a therapists's office, through an instrument, or a choose-your-own-adventure type situation.
Perfection is limiting. When you embrace the messiness of life, you start to see that the mess is kind of the whole point.
Challenges, pain, stumbling blocks - they're all invitations to grow, to deepen our resolve, to strengthen our connection back to ourselves.
What do we REALLY want to say? What are we willing to sacrifice? And can we allow discomfort to be a teacher? Can we learn to not take failure personally? (Failure is just information on the way to success).
When I look at this community and consider all I have been through in the past five years, I am amazed that this is where we are today. There were many points when all of this seemed not only impossible but ridiculous. A career pivot to YOUTUBE while I'm completely rebuilding my life after divorce?
But this was the first thing that truly felt right to me once I was on my own. It didn't make practical sense on paper, but there was a fire inside of me that said, you can trust this. You can trust yourself.
For those of you who are doubting yourself, please hear me when I say: You are capable. You are resilient. You are creative. And you deserve a life that feels like home.
If you took one step today towards something that makes you feel more alive, what might that look like?
I'd love to hear from you in the comments. What are you building? And what has this community meant for you? (I might feature some responses in a birthday livestream next week).
For me, it has meant a new, beautiful, beginning, and a whole lot of wonderful friends.
Thank you for your love and support. I am humbled, grateful, and excited for what's next.
With so much love,
💕 Taylor
P.S. And if you'd like to connect with more wonderful adults within our community, you can do so here: mots.circle.so/checkout/mom-on-the-spectrum-commun…
P.P.S. I really wanted to celebrate with a livestream, but I have laryngitis!! And my voice is completely gone. Womp womp. I hope to schedule one next week once I get my voice back and we can continue the celebration. 🫶
