If born in Ireland, Gary Rosenthal would be known as a Bard. But instead he was born in a political town, Washington, D.C., where he began writing poetry in grade school and won a national journalism award in his late teens. He worked as a fire lookout ranger in N.H., and for the past 45 years has lived in the San Francisco Bay area, where he's supported himself as a poet in the schools, on offshore fishing boats -- but mostly as a licensed psychotherapist, initially attending the Jung Institute-Zurich, after which he spent a few years in monastic Buddhist settings.
Gary’s poetry titles include "The You That is Everywhere," ecstatic love poems praised by fellow poets David Whyte and Coleman Barks. His poetry and psycho-spiritual writings have also appeared in numerous anthologies. Gary’s first nonfiction book, "Re-Visioning Narcissism: Healing Heresies for Polarized Times" was published in the fall of 2020.
