I'm Saul Richardson PhD, principal & co-founder at Jazz Workshop Australia. Here, I share knowledge and advice from my 30+ years' experience as a jazz educator, including classroom teaching, and as a professional guitarist/bassist. There are plenty of channels about how to play jazz, but it is harder to find useful information about how to teach it. This channel helps to meet several needs: Jazz pedagogy mentoring for newer teachers, professional development for seasoned jazz educators, and practical information about jazz pedagogy for performers who are also teaching.
This channel is founded on the understanding that learning to play jazz is based upon knowledge, skills, and techniques that can be taught and learnt.
