Greetings from a North Carolina girl living in South Florida! Here in Zone 11 I am learning how to garden in a tropical/subtropical climate.
I have a small 16x32 kitchen garden that all started out from a want to do something with the unused land on the side of our home. While the rest of our lake front property has a tropical suburban feel with lush palm tree landscaping, the side yard had been neglected. Besides mowing, nothing else had been done. Besides ANOTHER sitting area, what could I do? What could make it different? How could it be special? After extensive research, a garden became the answer. I wanted to extend my DIY skills as much as possible to make this as hands on as possible.
Come plant, DIY and harvest with my kids and I. This is a journey of learning, self-discovery, ancestorial acceptance, and peace. Let's learn and explore together.
