Sometimes I just go do things on my own. I love social events, traveling with others, attending events etc., but sometimes I enjoy the solo journey. No other plan or timetable or direction to line up with, no decision making or hierarchical orders of operation. Wherever my mind wanders, my self follows.
In my early 20s, I had a bit of free time while I was in Washington DC. I walked, took the train, took the bus, in whatever direction I felt like going. At one point, I wound up on the steps of our nation's capitol. I nearly always had a 35mm camera with me, this day was no exception. I took what was then called a self-portrait, now a "selfie" with phones. It wasn't easy to take a self portrait without the proper set up! A tripod, a plunger, things like that.
I cherish both group activity and time alone. This photo illustrates my love of time alone.
