Theory of Surrender is an #indiealternative project created by the solo artist known as Alo (one/one's). The original concept and first-use was in 1999. Originally inspired by Nirvana and Nine Inch Nails, the project has evolved over the years. It's been impressed upon by such names as Modest Mouse, 21 Pilots, and hip hop artists ranging from The Fugees to Ekoh. Indeed, this is a rare combination of #hearthop, #lo-fi, and #folkpunk.
It invites you to bear witness to an emotional voyage and see yourself reflected in lyrical movements. The experimental instrumentals craft a steady atmosphere. Its creator survives #autism and #ADHD and crafts songs for people similarly afflicted.
Alo would say one is a storyteller first, then poet, and finally a musician. One recalls bouncing around in diapers singing "Video Killed the Radio Star," coming to life as the record player recounted "Don't Dream It" from RHPS, and trying to merge with the ambience of The Fugees's "Ready or Not".
