2004, Auckland University. I was older than most of the students, an ex-sparky who knew more about twisting wires than taking notes.

But I was hungry -- hungry to build something bigger than a toolbox and a paycheck.

Then in walks this lecturer from Dunedin. He’d flown three hours just to talk to us. No intro. Straight to the point.

He says, “Here’s the problem with New Zealand businesses — we think too small.”

And he was bang on. A BMW, a batch, a boat — that was success for us.

Then he asked, “Name a franchise from New Zealand that went global.”

The room went dead silent.

And then he said one word that changed everything: “Imagine.”

“Imagine if you could take a little old brand from little old New Zealand and grow it globally.”

That one word lit a fire in me. It sparked SalesStar. Now we’re in 7 countries, pulling in 8-figures a year.
