Discover the future of software from the people making it happen.
Listen to some of the smartest developers we know talk about what they're working on, how they're trying to move the industry forward, and what you can learn from it. You might find the solution to your next architectural headache, pick up a new programming language, or just hear some good war stories from the frontline of technology.
Join your host Kris Jenkins as we try to figure out what tomorrow's computing will look like the best way we know how - by listening directly to the developers' voices.

Thanks to everyone who voted in the "how frequent should episodes be?" poll. The consensus seems to be "fortnightly or whatever's sustainable".Happily, for me those are the same answer - fortnightly's a good balance with the other things going on in my life.Motion carried; every other week is the winner. 🙂

I've been thinking lately about the frequency of Developer Voices episodes - how often should they be published? For a long time it was weekly, then at the start of the year I had too much to juggle, so I temporarily took it down to fortnightly. To my surprise, fortnightly episodes seem to get more viewers/listeners, so now I'm wondering if I should make that change permanent. Maybe every other week is better for all of us? Time for a poll!
In your ideal world, would episodes be published...

I had such an amazing time at YOW! Conferences over the last two weeks. There are a million things I could say about it and the wonderful people I met there. But the one at the top of my mind this morning is these two brilliant people - Rúnar Bjarnason of the #Unison language, and Oscar Nierstrasz of feenk.
I'd love to think that the future of software development looks like Runar's target language and Oscar's chosen programming environment, all mixed with an integrated LLM. Unison has so many smart things to say on the way we should be writing and collaborating on software; Glamorous Toolkit is a generation ahead of where our programming environments sit in helping us understand the software we're writing; and both of them have a wealth of local information to feed into an LLM for even more support.
You can't predict where computing will go, or how quickly, but if the future looks anything like where they're headed it'll be a good one. ❤️

I'm just organising my lists, and by heck I've got some great guests coming up on the podcast. 🤩🥳
Between now and the New Year we're going to hear from two of my favourite coders, Evan Czaplicki and Sam Aaron; we're diving into the worlds of gaming, television and music; and we're taking a big step back to look at the real problems of software architecture. 2024 is going to finish strong. 💪😎

This morning I managed to catch the rarest Pokemon in all of Functional Programming: the creator of Elm, Evan Czaplicki. 🤩
Look out for a Developer Voices episode with him in the coming weeks. 😀
