The Forgotten Hearth

What can the past tell us about living now?

With the rising cost of living, and global exhaustion of the modern world - I found myself looking back at the quiet wisdom ordinary people once relied on.... The Forgotten Hearth grew from that search—a collection of story-driven video essays exploring Anemoia—(nostalgia or memory for a time you’ve never known), history, homesteading, frugality, self-reliance, gardening, and the forgotten skills that once gave everyday life purpose.

This has always been my calling and for 20 years, my husband and I have restored our 176-year-old log home in rural Canada while building a life filled with animals, gardens, and heritage skills. I don’t have all the answers, but I believe the resilience of previous generations can help us navigate the challenges of modern life. From the meaning found in tangible work to the lessons in historical letters, we explore what the past can teach us about living more calmly, capably, and meaningfully today.
