It’s unfortunate they’re unwilling to restore the data. Data like that isn’t just deleted permanently, it has to be overwritten to be actually destroyed. Technically they can probably still restore a majority of the data, though the data might not be that usable except for viewing as opposed to functional. I hope you are able to build the site in a way that you’ll like more than before.

Old Man of the Woods
Dear viewers: Our mushroom identification website fungusid.com is unavailable as of today, September 5, 2021. The website has been deleted by the DigitalOcean due to an outstanding balance of $15 back in August 1, 2021. Unfortunately, all the notifications they sent out went to Gmail’s Promotion tab thus were unnoticed by us. We communicated with DigitalOcean, but everything has been permanently deleted thus cannot be restored.
This is heartbreaking news to us, but we will try our best to rebuild the website as our time allows. Hopefully, fungusid.com will be online again this fall. Please bear with us during this time. Thank you, for your understanding and long-time support.
