WITHOUT looking it up, is it possible to parry the giant crab enemies in Dark Souls 3?

@AlfonsoSRT

m8, I can't parry the most basic undead enemy with a knife and you want me to parry a giant enemy crab?

@UserOfTheZune

Yep, and they can also be riposted as they bring themselves up to slam their claws down, they're a pretty cool enemy.

I’ve never heard of such a thing, but I know they can be staggered from plunge attacks. Though this can only be done if they’re facing you.

When they're going for the Crab-o Grab-o you can parry and give em the good ole Crab-o Stab-o

Yes. Was surprised about that when I saw a phantom do it.

I play a low level Shrek character and have killed these crabs in almost every way possible. 2 light attacks and a heavy with an ultra will stagger them, a plunging attack can stagger them, the act of actually just falling on them near their center of mass will stagger them, when they raise both claws to do a slam attack they can be riposted (if you position yourself right after a plunge they will almost always follow up with this attack once they recover) and they have a few attacks that can be just straight up parried.

I have a vague memory of parrying a crab once but I honestly had to look it up. Turns out ‘it depends’

It's the weirdest thing but they are very parry-able and it is quite useful. FUN FACT, they can also be plunged for a fun and unique animation (dont quote me on that)

I remember seeing this guy parry every parryable enemy in Dark Souls 3. the most notable to me were the giant crabs and Lorian

They have like 2 moves you can parry. Its satisfying when you do

I only knew they could be staggered from a plunge attack. I love these games, beat em like 100 times over and still learn new things about it!

Are you going to tell me that these casuals can't parry "THE CLAW OF EXTREME PREJUDICE"

@waveburner1254

It is, although it is weird. You can parry it when it does its slam attack with both claws. It is open for a riposte for a few seconds. Also the Giant that shoots Arrows can put it in a parry like state.

@MrBrimbles

You can parry anything if you just try hard enough. Trust me. All you have to do is keep on standing there, hitting L2 like a complete moron and eventually you'll parry them.

@GreenHoneydew1

They can't be parried but they can be riposted if you punch them right square in the schnoz enough times, they'll eventually go into a riposte state for you to get off a very satisfying crit.

Yes, so can the giant snake guys in ArchDragon Peak. The reason people don't try to is mainly because it's a general rule that the big ass bois are unparryable so most tend to not attempt it. That and it can be a bit tricky to pull off effectively.
