Just when you think Spotify can't get any worse...

@ApolloGGG

“Emotional state” Standing on the edge of the bridge. You look out into the water and decide to play one last song. Trembling, you say, “Siri, play Spotify”. “Now playing Drop it like it it’s hot”. splash

They’ve definitely been already doing this. I use Spotify on my phone and whoever I want a certain song or artist I always just start name dropping them and it’ll play in my shuffle within the next few songs without fail. Ik I sound like a tin foil hat but I swear

I can scream at my phone for hours and it'll still recommend me shitty meme songs in my Discover Weekly I guarantee it. The amount of songs I have to remove just based on their titles is absurd. But maybe the jokes on me. Maybe 'Big Chungus Anime OP 1' actually slaps hard.

If they securely kept the data and were completely transparent with what they do with the data, I'd be more open to trying this technology because it really is impressive, but big tech would rather make money than make safe advancements

Just when you think YouTube mobile's image viewing UI couldn't get worse

@Behext

This stuff makes me feel so helpless. I just learned about that Alphonse software that some apps come with the other day when trying to figure out why I was being recommended things I only ever spoke about. I'm not very intelligent about this stuff and have no idea what we're supposed to do about these sneaky breaches of privacy.

I cannot stress the severity of how monotone my voice is. I just know my kind is going to be purged by this somehow.

You mean if I said "man this sucks" they'd recommend sad music to make me feel even worse?

@Virtual_C_

They need to be investigated honestly. They are so shady and definitely don't care about your privacy or hacked accounts. Sadly almost all the big tech companies do this to an extent, they just don't publically say it.

@revlis4063

Me saying Ram Ranch over and over until it gets recommended to me on Spotify

Mmhmm, we are the product after all.

Thank the gods I don’t use Spotify, otherwise it’d probably play nothing but country for me... I might just have to chuck my phone out the nearest window...

@KonStafylides

Pretty sure this already happens. I'm a freshman musicology student and I was talking on discord about a really obscure 20th cent classical piece and immediately after I typed the first letter the exact thing popped up. And this happens all the time

How the hell does monitoring speech help with music recommendations? Either way I don't need to worry since I still use an old ass Ipod I've had for 10 years for music

I saw this article and I'm so happy you noticed it as well. Please make a video of this. This topic needs to be addressed.
