NEW VIDEO ON THE CHANNEL! ✨

After Freddie’s untimely death in 1991, Brian May frequently dedicated “Love Of My Life” to him in his own live performances.
Brian would sing a few lines of the song, then let the audience take over for every verse, just as Freddie did.

Brian himself can sing in his own right, but every performance of the song onward was about emotion and not technicality. At times, Brian would get visibly choked up on stage while singing the song.

But I will say that the specialty of the song’s most recent performances, long after Freddie’s passing, is not just Brian’s emotional vocals but the appearance of a hologram of Freddie at the end of each performance, using archive footage of him performing the song during the Wembley concert on July 12, 1986.

With their voices in unison, and an amphitheater filled with tens of thousands of lit up cell phones, a entire crowd could be brought back in time, with the only obvious differences being Brian’s nowaday gray mane and phones lighting the sky instead of lighters.

The use of the hologram illusion is definitely a spectacular magical moment, a way of Queen making sure Freddie’s spirit is felt throughout shows. Because without Freddie, there isn’t Queen.
