Also, not related, but I think the reason people prefer Eminem’s old albums is because he raps slower allowing them more time to process the words and memorize the lyrics. I know almost every word to The Eminem Show, but none of his new stuff. Just my theory.

I'd say consistency in the theme of the album, if there is a theme. Also, just quality and originality in the songs overall. As long as it's unique, from the heart, and brings something new to the table. I'm not even one to talk though, cause I haven't even written an album yet, lol.

Personally, I like variety. If beats start to sound too similar or if songs don’t stand out and I can’t remember the name of them. Not good. Every song should stand out in some way.

I think the key is being well-rounded. A lot of rappers have lyrics, but forget about flow. A lot of rappers have skill, but forget about message. I think the best albums aren't rapping about rapping, they're delivering a message in a unique but understandable and skilled way. I hope that made sense.

Have somethin to appeal to the ladies. At least 3 songs. Have 3 more songs strictly for everybody to dance to but bring it a bit more hardcore on the beat... 2 story songs.. One at least for empowerment if not 2. One song for the streets.. And the rest just crazy lyrical spittin.. But for all those elements the lyrics still gotta be blazin.
